Hair Haters

There's been a lot of hating on the updo lately, and while the overdone prom curls of the nineties may, indeed, be a thing of the past, I think that for anyone who lives in Maryland, having your long hair down during the summer is a bit of a pipe dream.*
However, I think something like this would be a beautiful and summer appropriate hairdo:
Are you going with an updo or the trendier "half-up-half-down" (which we no longer call the "pollyanna" style) do?

*If I lived in a different part of the country, I probably wouldn't keep my hair so short.

  1. I'm still debating: shaven with number 2 or a little longer and spiky?

    man, hair is hard.

  2. I am so saving this picture in my updo inspiration file. I am firmly in the updo camp. If my hair is down and I'm standing in the sun, I'm gonna start sweating. It's just a fact of life.

  3. As a Maryland native, I'm being a dumbass and planning on keeping my hair down. I hardly ever wear it up, and whenever I do, I don't really feel like myself. Also, I don't want to have to pay someone to do my hair, and I don't trust myself to do it all pretty-like.

(I'm also going to magically come up with an army of elves who follow me around all day with motorized fans and Evian water spritzers.)

  4. I'm going with the half up half down not because it's trendy (I didn't even know it was trendy!) but because I don't like the updo on myself personally. The only time I ever have my hair up is when I'm working out, so I associate the front of my face with no hair with sweat (even if the back would look prettier than a pony tail).

At first I wanted it all down, but figured the Brazilian summer might not be that nice to it, and might make it poufy for the reception. So half up half down it is!

  5. Oh my gosh, why do we live in the most humid state EVER!

I think the soft curls on the side is a great do-piece. And I had no idea the half-up/half-down was called a "pollyanna." I always called it "half-up/half-down." I am getting a fresh hair cut a couple of weeks prior to the wedding. I can't decide if I want to go for more Winona Rider's pixie cut a la 1990's or Rihanna's B.A. faded sides.

  7. this is beautiful.

As a noted updo hater, I would like to clarify that I just dont like it when it looks hard. Hair should never LOOK hard from hairspray.
